Once a timesheet for a specific month has been submitted (How do I complete and submit my Timesheet for a given month?), it enters the approval workflow defined by your institution.
For example, the Principal Investigator is normally involved in approving the timesheets for that project (see How do I complete and submit my Timesheet for a given month?).
1) As a service user you can see all the timesheets in your institutions workflow by going to Projects > Timesheet approvals.
2) The table shows the different timesheets and their approval Status.
3) If there is a timesheet that is waiting for your action, you will see an exclamation mark alerting to it. Once you click the LabOrders arrow on that line, you will be shown the Actions available.
In this case the validation by the Project Manager is pending.
4) You will probably want to confirm the information being submitted before validating it.
Click the Timesheet calendar icon to go to the Timesheet calendar view and confirm the details submitted.
Once you are done you can move back to the Timesheet approval by click the View approval link on the top of the calendar view.
5) When you are ready, simply click the Validade (PM) option.
6) Approving or validating in any other step in your institution's workflow will be done in a similar manner.
You can check who is due to make the next approval step by using the Who's next option in the LabOrders arrow for the line.
7) Typically, once the rest of workflow is completed the process returns to the project manager that then closes it.
Although you can generate the timesheet PDF at any point in the workflow process, it is typically at this final stage that you will download the timesheet's PDF for your records.
